First, what is FUE?

What happens before the procedure?

A consultation should confirm the diagnosis. Pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, scarring alopecia, telogen effluvium and hair breakage do not have the same treatment pathway. The US FDA clearance describes ARTAS as assisting physicians with follicular-unit harvesting, recipient-site creation and implantation for a defined patient group. A 2024 comparative study of 13 men reported broadly similar satisfaction and safety between ARTAS-assisted and conventional FUE, but it was small and found differences in some graft-handling measures.
